I just installed Photoshop Elements 3. When I try to open a file that is saved on my hard drive as a .CR2 file (RAW file), I get an error message in Photoshop that it can't open the file because it is not the right file type.

This happens with every RAW file I try to open. I know the files are not corrupt because I can open and edit them in Zoombrowser.

I got Photoshop just to process RAW photos and I'm getting frustrated, someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong.

I'm in the editing window, I go to open file, navigate to the file, and it won't open it.

Help!!

Thanks.

There should be another SW that came w/ the XT to post process the RAW file I think its CPP or something like that. You can also download RAWshooter, which is free right now, by PIXMATIC. This program will process the RAW for you and then you can MOD it in Element. I personally don't use element, but I know that PSCS2 can process the RAW files. Have you check ADOBE for a posible update.

The software that came with the camera is Digital Photographer Pro which will process the RAW image. I can do it thru zoombrowser too. I just can't do it thru PS Elements which pisses me off. It's the new version, shouldn't need an update, but I'll try the Adobe website and see what I can find out there.

Thanks.

Thank you lostdoggy for that suggestion. I went to the Adobe website, sure enough there is an update, downloaded it and now it works.
