Hey guys,
I'm shooting my first wedding in a week. I feel prepared for it- but am looking for some advice. What should I look out for? Is there anything I should consider?
I already sent a contract to the bride and she's sending it back. I'm not making much on this wedding- only $450 and the cost of prints. I'm paying a graphic designer $100 to handle all of the post processing(I'm a student and don't have the time). I would have billed more, but this is a very poor young couple and it's my first wedding.
In addition to the gear I have on my list, I'm going to have a 1dsmkIII, a 24-105 and a 14L from CPS. I'm thinking I'll use my 5d with the 24-105 and a flash and the 1dsmkIII with either the 24 or 135 for most of the wedding. I'm going to give my second shooter the 1dmkII with the 28-70 and the 550ex. I plan on doing the posed shots with the lastolite softbox after the ceremony, and covering the ceremony PJ style.
Thanks for your advice- much obliged

if u are the main shooter i think u should be shooting with the 28-70 instead since the 24-105 might not be fast enough for the ceremony. i would need more info on the venue and how much light is available and are flashes allowed there. but i have to say that the 24-105 is not a lens i would use for most venues without flash because ceremonies usually dont have that much available light. i could be wrong tho since it might just be outside and then that'll be a perfect lens for it since its really sharp and i dont see u need more than f4. need more info tho, and then i can give better advice.

The wedding is in a barn. I'm pretty sure that the light will be crappy, so I'll reconsider using the 28-70.

I'd be using the 24, 50 and 135 a lot more than those zooms... flash or no flash.

I was going to use the primes for the bride getting ready , but for the actual ceremony, I want the flexibility of a zoom

hmm how big is this barn? how many people can it hold? looks like ur running a 2 camera setup and ur 2nd is using one. will there be a lot of natural light going thru the barn. i can see one body with the 24-105 with flash and one of the primes on the other body for the more natural light look.

Don't use equipment you're not used to. Going with a different body with a different interface as your main camera is a recipe for screwing up. Stick with what you have and with what you know; you should be more concerned about being in the right place than having to mess with your equipment.
Really, you already have all the gear you need; the 14L will probably sit in the bag unless you force yourself to use it.
How many times have you second shot?

I put this thread in TALK as you don't have images to SHARE yet. Hope you have luck here. I just shot another hot wedding yesterday. It was wonderful, though.
