Looks like HDR, which is generally good, but in this case, whatever you did, I think it misses in regard to avoiding blown out highlights. That is one of the very things that HDR does well - avoiding blown out highlights and blocked up shadows.

True it`s a single RAW HDR processing. I was experimenting with it and I was trying to make a painting/drawing effect....(not a typical HDR effect I normally see)

Good composition and i like the gritty feel to the image...

But the halos around the trees in the sky really ruin it for me...

How about the second revision PP ? BTW, the 2nd photo is not HDR.

This does not answer your question about the 2nd revision, but I think it must be noted here that you were shooting into the sun. Usually, shooting into the sun gives an undesrable effect on the overall appearance of the scene. So, I would say you are not doing yourself any favors.

The 2nd needs some level adjustments - as it is right now it looks dull - there is no life in that picture. Try levels and a slight curve adjustment to bring up the contrast. The first one doesn't do anything for me - the halos are just way too much. The sky looks as if someone took a black brush and just threw some strokes onto it.

Hell yeah! I would....LOL!

And in the end that's all that counts. As long as you like your own picture, then it truly does not matter what anybody else thinks about it - good for you!

May I ask a totally unrelated question (as far as the PPing goes)? I have been experimenting with my wide anglelens but still haven't been able to capture that low to the ground look in the foreground; what is the trick?

Get lower to the ground!

I thought I had gotten pretty low but apprently not low enough! thanks!
