View Full Version : A80 Over Exposure and Hazy Pictures

While shooting in Auto Mode my A80 suddenly starts producing really washed-out, overexposed images. This change always occurs absolutely suddenly - in other words, it is usually preceded by several good pictures. However, it always corrects itself after several hours and/or after taking absolutely several useless washed-out pictures. The problem has occurred about 10 times in the past 10 months since I bought the camera. By the way, before it auto-corrects itself, it also produces several photos with a "mildly reddish hue". Otherwise, I am very happy with the camera's performance.

Specs of the sample image attached to this posting:

Shooting Mode: Auto
Photo Effect Mode: Off
Tv( Shutter Speed ): 1/500
Av( Aperture Value ): 2.8
Metering Mode: Evaluative
Exposure Compensation: 0
ISO Speed: Auto

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Note: The camera is under warranty and I am thinking of sending it in to Cannon.

I have the same problem on my Canon Powerahot A80.
I'm sending mine off to a UK approved Canon Service Centre; they say it sounds like a 'known fault' which might be covered under a free-of-charge Canon recall.
The Canon website makes reference to this, but only describes it as 'image abnormalities'; see:
https://self-service.canon-europe.com/ce/pages/

I'll let you know how it goes.
