That'd take some frying! :o)
I don't like commenting on other people's shots when they have so much more knowledge than me - but the top looks a little over-exposed to me.
Still waiting for those shots of Squammish by the way! :o)

The top is actually white in colour that is if we're talking about the same thing.
Don't worry Damian, Squamish shots this summer guaranteed. :)

Hey that's cool! I'm guessing it is rather small, but the perspective and relative flatness of the rocks in the background make it seem tremendous. How big?

I suppose it may be a bit tough to give critique on a photo when you have no idea what it is you're looking at.
This is actually a steel rod or bolt that is sticking out about 4" from the rotted deck of an old wooden scow that is probably pushing 90 years old. It sits on the Fraser River where I work.

This is a remarkable shot. Beautiful, beautiful colors ana texture.
The browns are superb, as are the greys and greens. Plus the odd touch of blue is totally unexpected.
Best of all are the varied --but comlementary-- textures of flaking iron, rocks, fungus.
A true beauty.
What's more, I'm thinking that even without the iron, the shot may have been a winner. It really picks up and goes beyond your shoreline shots of the Fraser where the the debris was at war with the environment.
You are on to something Colin.

PS: You just coked your Canada Goose. Butt good!

OK I see that now. Where there any fairies under it?

Normally I don't care for shots perfectly centered, but this is an exception. Very nice! Great mix of textures & natural colors.

Sorry Damian. My teenage substance experimentation years are but long gone. If you had of asked me that question 20 years ago I'm sure I would have found something. :D

Hi Colin,
You were complaining about a lack of critiques in another post (rightly so) so I thought I'd add my two cents. I agree with Damian about the overexposed top. It may be the actual color, but art is what you make of it -- the shot didn't come with a frame and signature either. :)
If you'll forgive my tampering, I selected the top, copied it to a separate layer, set blend mode to Multiply, and left opacity at 100%. Then I opened Curves and set Input to 71 and Output to 51. I think this makes the top another complementary and intriguing element in a very beautiful and textured picture.
But that's just one man's opinion. Again, please excuse my touching it. It's a beautiful photograph no matter what. If I had taken it, I would be walking around with a self-satisfied smirk for a week.
Cheers,
Don
