I've just started shooting in RAW for portraiture and some difficult outside situations at weddings. Not very effecient at RAW conversion yet and was wondering if the software DPP 1.6 or RSE would be better or if it really matters. DPP seems easier to me, but I hear alot of people talking about RSE.

Thanks,

I have used DPP, RSE, C1 and PSCS for RAW conversions. They all have their pluses and minuses. For me it is really a matter of using whatever you get used to. They will all produce quality conversions. In the end, I have decided to stay with C1. Once you get in and start using any of them they become quite easy to use. It is really a matter of personal preferences.

RSE - miles in front in my opinion

RSE here too, so much more control than DPP or ACR and most of all it's free with no strings attached. Once you get the processing parameters right its a sinch to use and obtain good results. Batch processing is fast and doesn't hog system resources, I can have a bunch of files queued while working on the completed ones in CS2 (system= 512mb ram/P4 3.2E)

My thoughts are in this thread:

I use all of them - for different reasons. If I could justify CS2 it sounds like the new ACR converter has added a lot of features. I agree with the comments above that much of it is what you spend time getting used to. Play around with the trials and free versions and compare the results. I think you can get excellent results with any of the converters if you spend the time really learning how it works.
