Looking to rent a 100-400mm L IS lens. I am located in Columbus, Ohio and am willing to drive a bit to meet you. It will only be one or two days. Let me know if you could help me out as I am still undecided whether to purchase it. Thanks.

Then buy it...
I have that lens and really love it. It does need a lot of light though. So... if you are wanting to do a lot of shooting in dim conditions, you will want to go with a faster lens. Trouble is, fast lenses of that focal length or longer get really expensive.
Lensrentals.com is a great resource. I rent from them regularly. Normally, lenses I don't need for most projects but really need for one. It is actually cheaper to rent under those circumstances.

I did, only have the 300 f4 and 400 5.6 and the cost for two days is as much as a week compared to renting online.

I second that, they are awesome. Too bad you only need it for a few days though.

Yeah MPEX doesnt have it. I talked with them last week, and am on a contact list if it shows up. Apparently there is another place down the street (few blocks southeast) called ColumbusPhotoGroup. Havent been there yet but will be going just to scope them out.

Lensrentals.com is a good source. Sometimes you just have to suck it up and pay the price to rent it.

I use mine for birding, equestrian sports, other sports.... all in good daylight. If that fits what you need, it is the lens for you.

Ok thanks, that's pretty much what i shoot. I have to drop my 70-200 for it but i'm fine with that.

I'd almost offer to trade. Professionally, your lens would do me more good. I ending up renting it once in a while. But I really enjoy the nature shots and haven't found anything better for the equestrian stuff.
