I found I had some black velvet and decide to give a try at product shots. I needed to turn the film just a wee bit so the K would show in Kodachrome.
I'm very new at photography any c/c would be welcome

Doesn't work for me.
1) Too dark. Needs more light.
2) Setup looks very unnatural and awkward.
3) Crop is too tight.
4) Looks OOF to me.

no worries. I'm not sure how natural it could look lol
I actually agree with everything you have said, the reason for dark is I had a light shining through the lens to highlight the film. It didn't work as I had hoped.

Yea. I forgot to mention, I really like the idea of the light coming through the lens.
I haven't seen that anywhere before. ;)
