Here is an Emu with a pretty bad do.
I shot it today at a local zoo.
I liked it, and I hope you do too. :D

I know you do Sandi, sorry if it's rather boring for you, but over here we have to have a special "Aussie" section in our zoo for these critters. We have gators and snakes running around in our bush. . . . .  .

Nice portrait, John. The poem needs something, not sure what. I know, a little USM.

Thanks sparker1. I know, the poem is flat, needs some curves, and some serious USM. I do apologize for the lame poetry. I just thought it would make my photography look much better. . . . .

That is a trip! You know that does look like hair--but it must be modified feathers.

John,
When the image started coming up I thought you had captured a candid of Don King. Turns out this is much better.

I love Emu's (and never find pics of them boring) and plenty of people here with land keep them as pets..Did you here the noise they make?..They sound like drums!
Here are a couple of pics I took a few weeks ago..These were taken at an animal farm. My daughter got to feed them, they positioned her with her back to them and an Emu came around each side of her and started pecking the food out of her hand. I love the expression on her face!..She looks worried!...I wonder why?

Cool pics witchy. Thanks for sharing them with us. I guess they are abundant down there. These guys were pretty quiet when I was shooting them. It was mid day and very hot and humid. It was the absolute worst time to be shooting animals, but I did it anyway. . . . :o

Aparently Emu's are really common in the west. There was evan a 'war' on them at one stage.

I found that interesting reading!
Up north they are common, down around Perth, no so much. Of course every wildlife park, animal farm and the zoo have them..Also many people have them as pets, like I have already said but only those with property.
A few years ago, we went up to Exmouth for a holiday and everyday emu's would just roam our caravan park.
I have seen a documentary that said emu's can get quite nasty and inflict serious injuries..So you have to just be aware. I love them, love the noise they make..Awesome birds!
