at the end of the month. Can someone living in the area or who have visited AZ provide suggestions for places to photograph birds and other wildlife? Also, do they have a zoo?
Thanks

Tuscon has a terrific desert museum (Arizona-Sonoma Desert Museum - http://www.desertmuseum.org (http://www.desertmuseum.org/)/) that is well worth a visit.

Judy is right on about the Desert Museum. Also, often lots of birds in the Saguaro NP. Try Sabino Canyon for some good hikes, may see wildlife. There is also a botanical garden in Tucson.

Tucson is not a big, in size, city. The U of A is within an hours drive of all the locations mentioned. Sabino Canyon is beautiful, be sure you check it out. There's also another place, that's been ignored the last few years, and that's Old Tucson Studios. They used to film old Westerns there, and old Western TV shows. You might find something interesting to see there.

^^^^Looking on a map, it's close to Sedona. Driving time between 3 and 4 hours, if not in Phoenix rush hour.

Arizona-Sonora has an excellent walk-through Hummingbird exhibit.
Check out THIS (http://johnwright.smugmug.com/Zoos/Other-Zoos-Heather/Arizona-Sonora-Desert-Museum/7478339_7YC8B#482511064_TrgNq) gallery of my wife's shots from there a couple of years ago.

There's also a small zoo in Reid Park (http://www.tucsonzoo.org/) in Tucson...

JWright, I'd planned to go there but I will definitely go there now after viewing the photos. Which lens did you wife use? I plan to take my 200 2.8 and 1.4 extender and my 85 1.8 and possibly the 24-105mm.
Thanks for the photos. I am convinced now.
Setting up my site visit plans for the weekend
Thanks

I think for most of the ones in that gallery she used either the 75-300 IS or the 28-135.
You should be fine with what you have listed...

Hello! I have lived in Tucson for the last 10 years. The Sonoran Desert Museum is a great place to go. The Tucson Zoo is actually really really nice and I plan on taking my new camera there soon to get pics. Old Tucson Studios is also a great place to take pics. Also while you are here take a trip up to the top of Mt. Lemmon and you will be greeted with spectacular views of the city and a complete change of scenery with all the Pine trees. I'm pretty new to photography and my camera but I'd love to tag along with someone a little more experienced. So if you want just look me up when you get here and I can show you were everything is if you show me how to use my damn camera
Edit: Also there is Sabino Canyon which has really nice scenery and wildlife.
