What do you consider a fair hourly rate is for your area? Thats what I would charge. Is there going to be any pp? prints involved? What exactlly is it (activity) they are wanting you to document? Inside outside? Are you going to have to set up lighting??? Not enough info in your intial post to make much of a judgment or response.

And remember nobody beats the "WIZ" I'm sure you have never got before huh?

Yeah, there's not enuf info to even start estimating what to charge....

What do they want you to provide and how are they going to use it?

There are usually two pieces to a price... One is the shooting fee. The other is the usage fee.

The shooting fee can be determined in a number of ways, but basically whatever you want hourly times the number of hours you estimate, plus any and all expenses you incur, plus (usually) some lesser hourly rate for any time spent on set up or on post processing.

To determine the usage fee, you need a whole lot more info.

Prints for a scrap book? Big framed prints to hand on the wall in city hall? Digital files for a website or for use in an advertising brochure that will see a press run of 10,000? One image? 200 images?

Do you know what you would charge it is was xyz corporation asking you to do the same thing. I get the impression that the word "government" here means special pricing. I've done work for the city that I live in and charge them at the same rate that I charge my corporate customers.
