Simple, cheap replacement. Call Canon. How the heck did you do that? I have yet to scratch an LCD cover.

How serious (deep) is the scratch?
If it's just superficial, you might be able to polish it out with a polish marketed as an automotive clearcoat polish. Examples include the 3M "Body Repair Finish Restorer" (available at Wal-Mart) or Kit "Scratch Out".
Other threads on this forum describe replacement of the clear cover over the LCD screen.

Like my name says...paintballphotography! It is a very harsh environment for cameras!

I use Fellows WriteRights that are for PDAs.
You can cut them to the same size as your LCDs and pretty clear.
I use them on the LCD on the back and the top for the info panel.
If you mark them up, take it off and put another on.
They come in 12 packs and can be bought at most stores that sell PDAs.

Thanks, that looks like a good idea, but I am currently using a Kata Bag (http://www.kata-bags.com/Item.asp?pid=229&cid=61&perentId=4&ProdLine=4 (http://www.kata-bags.com/Item.asp?pid=229&cid=61&perentId=4&ProdLine=4)) to protect my cameras. Too bad they don't make one for me to wear; I can't tell you how many times I get hit. I am usually covered with welts and bruises after a big event...all in a days work

Yes I tried clear plastic covers but I did not like them. I have to wear a paintball mask/goggle combination and it is had enough to see the image on the LCD screen so I did not want to have to look through another piece of plastic.
The oil from the paintballs and the dirt seem to get on my hands and then on to the camera. This is a very harsh environment for cameras and this is how I must have scratched my LCD screen. From what I have read here all I need to do is call Canon and they will send me another cover for the LCD screen which is simple to switch out…is this correct?

I've just had a look at your web site. May I just say that your's is a case where there is no doubt you should be using a protective filter on your lens ...

I like the website, yeah protective filter is a understatement. You may be well served talking to someone that has done combat photography, what you are doing is pretty close. :)

Yea how about a suit of armor<g>, actually I get most of the hits to my hands and forearms. I have tried gloves but I find it too difficult to use the camera
