UV(0) and Circular Polarizer Stuck Together

Hello,

I have a UV(0) "haze" filter and a circular polarizer stuck together. I always leave my UV(0) on all my lenses, and then I have one circular polarizer that I just put on whatever lens.

Somehow I managed to get these two filters stuck together. I didn't screw the CP on particularly hard, though where I had put it on, was a lot more humid than where I live. Now I come home and boom, I cannot get em apart. I've tried gripping both with all sorts of things like paper towel or rubber pads. Thinking "hey it was cooler where I put it on", I stuck them in the fridge for a while. Still no go. I have also tried gently tapping the edges against something, hoping to break the grip.

Surely somebody knows a trick?

Rubber bands around each of them? Check your local (real) camera store for what are called "filter wrenches". They're stiff plastic that wraps around most of the filter and is pried together, sort of like pliers. One on each filter and try twisting.

Filter wrenches. Puts distributed torque around the filter. Rubber bands are grippy, but you still are applying force to two or three finger width areas. Cheap too. $4.00.

Ah, perfect. I had once heard of these but never thought I would need them. How I wish I'd just thrown them into one of my B&H orders now!

I was finally able to get them apart, with the filter wrenches. Fortunately, I ordered TWO sets... Because the first broke.

The frustrating part was that the UV(0) has no rough grip whatsoever, it's just smooth. I found a perfectly sized rubber band, seemingly made for this situation that fit perfectly. Ironically it came with the order, bound around some other items. This I put around the UV(0) and then everything came apart quickly. Though, I certainly would call the force needed "uncomfortable".
