Hey guys, I just thought this was pretty cool.
If you have a Blackberry and recently upgraded your Blackberry messenger to BBM5 then scan this barcode. It'll take you to my website. I was thinking of maybe having this printed on the back of my business cards or something? Gives me lots of idea's though.

It worked perfectly from the screen. It pulled up the reference as fast as I could click it! I mean litteraly as fast as I clicked it.
It might be a decient idea to put it on a lot of things. A version of your cards. Bottom of your letter head, reciepts..... lots of places.

That's pretty cool. What did you use to create the barcode? Worked great from my wife's phone.

I started in the bottom right corner and made it to the center in about 47 seconds! ;)
Clever Idea you've got IMO...

It's called a QR code. You can generate them here for example:

Been using those for years in Japan.
Every restaurant, advertisement etc. has one so you just point your phone and boom...... at that companies website.
Glad to see they are starting to work in America as well.

How do you scan this with a Blackberry?

Works right off the screen on my iPhone if there's no other graphics/text nearby. Software is a bit buggy but still a very cool concept. Much faster than typing, and the scanner maintains a history of scanned barcodes, so you don't have to record them yourself. Nice.

That barcode was developed years ago. Just another change of times. We'll see it everywhere Im sure in the future.

There's an iphone app available here: http://www.i-nigma.com/Downloadi-nigmaReader.html
There may be others, that's just the first I saw and tested.

I was wondering the same thing? Do you take a photo from the iphone and then the iphone will open the link (bar code)?

With a BB, the camera sees the barcode and automatically zooms in on it and focuses. No photo is taken, but it uses the phone's camera.

Pretty much the same with my Touch Pro (Windows Mobile)

Yeah, you don't need to take a pic, but it uses the camera to 'see' the barcode.
I just did a search for 'barcode' in the appstore and there are many out there, so it may be a good idea to test a few out and see which works best.

FWIW, Nokia's have a Barcode scanner too. On my E71, it's in the tools section and it brought your website up really fast :D

It was kind of goofy to get to it. You can go to BB's website and they'll email you the DL link that you can open in your phone, but that didn't work for me. I tried it a couple of times and it just didn't work out for me.
I don't have my wife's BB in front of me right now, but I think I went into the "about" or "help" deal and it had an upgrade option in there somewhere that did it semi-automatically after click into it.
If you can't find it, I'll check and see if I can figure it out again when my wife gets home from work tonight. She has the BB Pearl, but I suspect its the same for all of them?
