Got out to shoot some games with my new setup before Vegas. My ISO was too high and I forgot how much noise I got at 1000ISO w/1D Classic. So they're a bit noisier than I'd like. But the speed difference and focusing is MUCH better than on my 30D. All photos below are with the 1D (except the fisheyes).
For those who have seen my other work, let me know what you think.

Great shot selection, but the 1D shots look underexposed and a bit "dull". The colors really don't "pop" like your fisheye shots or the shots you've posted in the past.

Thanks my man!

That's sorta what I was feeling too. I'm not sure if it was just the fact that it was so overcast... the ISO I was shooting at (I never shoot over 400 w/my 30D, and I didn't need to be this high with the 1D)... I'm not sure. What I really like about the 1D vs the 30D, is that my "keeper-rate" was SO MUCH higher, because I didn't have any focusing probs. I didn't lose any shots in frame sequences of players diving, bunkering, ect. The combination of 8fps and a better focusing, makes a HUGE difference for sports. But if the colors aren't looking right, then it may not be worth it. I think I'll shoot Friday in Vegas w/the 1D and see what things look like after a day of shooting (it's supposed to be sunny in Vegas). If I have the same results, I'll switch back. (Crosses fingers that it was just a bad day.)
If any 1D (classic or beyond) users have suggestions on settings to help with my issues, please feel free to post!
Thanks,
Robbo

I happen to think the cloudy days look best, and it makes manual mode a lot easier! In my recent paintball thread the first set was on an extremely sunny day and the second set was an extremely cloudy day (even raining at some points). I love how the colors and saturation look in the cloudy set!

Great pics! I used to play paintball back in my teenage years (and back when Angels were good)

I agree with loving a cloudy day to shoot. I just don't know why I had such an off day color-wise. But the only variable was the body, so it's likely that is the factor. I really wanted to blame it on the rain (if you will). We'll see. I'm planning on shooting Friday in Vegas with the 1D w/a 70-200 2.8L IS, instead of my Sigma and my fishy on the 30D. If things stay this "dull" I'm going to switch back to the 30D as a primary until I can figure the settings out.
Thanks for the advise. Expect some posts live from VEGAS on Keepitsquare.com as well as here on POTN.
