I can no longer use my touchpad or touchpoint nav devices on my ibm thinkpad laptop!

I can not seem to get em back either...

I can go into control panel and click them on and it says it is off in the BIOS and needs to be turned on there or with the thinkpad config utility.

If i pull the bios up they are not turned off but in auto (my only other choice other than off) and the same when I use the thinkpad config utility...

I can use a usb mouse....

Anybody know how to solve this?

It's been a while since I've debugged an IBM Thinkpad, but I do seem to remember losing the track pad on some of the machines. Cannot remember how I fixed it though. Try resetting the BIOS then taking the battery off for a few minutes while messing with the touchpoint - then put the battery back and reboot. I remember that working from time to time with other IBM issues. I also remember on some models there was a standby button (hard to find though) on or by the trackpad that effectively turned it off - or was that HP? Hummm. Or was it Fn+F9 or something like that. Take a look around at the F keys or for a button by the trackpad.
