The American society of Media Photographers has started a campaign to fight stealing pictures online. It has published a ten point manifesto.

Great article. It's just a shame that most people to read it will probably be photographers..
And tupper, glad your mind is on the right track ;)

Anyone notice that the "manifesto" is written poorly? Whereas the points made in a manifesto are declarative principals, these stipulations are more like a fingerpointing plea for rules and guidelines.

The www.dontscrewus.org (http://www.dontscrewus.org/) website is a slow-loading piece of flash junk. If they want to get the message out, they need to do better.

Cool, but the smug prick attitude has gotta go if anyone is going to take that seriously

The video is professionally done, however I'm unsure if it conveys the message effectively. On the one hand, those people taking the photos seem to be obviously in the wrong. On the other hand, "if you're an artist, then you should protect your work." The video could be interpreted to mean that if photographers don't want their work to be stolen, then don't make it so easy for people to do so.
I still think they need to work on the "manifesto."
