I thought it would be great to start a thread which would contain links to some very inspiring and unique works of people photography. I recently have been admiring Li Wei for his extremely clever work with mirrors and acrobatics. Technically his phots are nothing to write home about but the effect is out of this world. There's no photoshop.

I have seen this photo (http://www.liweiart.com/english/works_htm/photo_htm/047-01.htm) floating around the internet for some time now. I still have no idea how he achieves this effect.

it says he uses cables too. just my opinion but the whole of it is lame. who gives a ****. the shots suck on top of the effects which are lame. no one other than a photog whould care they would just say its photoshopped. here, i just showed it to girl in the next office. once i told her its not photoshopped she says, "why not just do it in photoshop any not have all the junk (mirrors, cables) to mess with." exactly. 28y/o hot blonde nailed it imnsho!

Now... if you don't care - leave it at that. If the 28 year old blonde knew what she was talking about she would not suggest photoshop. Ever tried to match your light with your photoshop background and your subject both being shot at different times at diferent locations? Give it a go sometime.
I agree that the shots are not processed in a way you are used to see them from famous Nigel Barkers and this is why you think they suck. Look through this and for a second you may just see the innovative mind that is behind those photographs.
You don't have to like them, but saying that someones truly unique work (and well executed) sucks - is not a very good idea, especially coming from... well a motorsports photographer... ;)

I for one love his stuff. The notion of doing this without photoshop is so Episode IV if you know what I mean. Art is also about appreciating the technique involved, not just the final result.
He has recently been in a few UK newspapers as he will be exhibiting here in the near future.

It's interesting to me, but not totally impressive because of Photoshop. I've seen some pretty trippy stuff come out of Photoshop that's way ahead of this guy. This is my opinion.
But, hey, I'm glad it's working for him. I wish success upon everyone. If people like his art and buy it, then good for him.
Funny that China still puts on a lousy front about being communists. Yeah, right. They've out-capitalismed us.

Um, wow... Ok, so you hate 'em. We get that. May I point out that you could use some diplomacy and a little less arrogance.
As to the images, I agree that they aren't the most mindbending but thanks for starting an interesting thread. It is very interesting that he is doing this without PS. I'm not sure I'm intelligent enough to get the 'how', but it is fascinating, nonetheless.

He uses wires and acrobatics.
It's a bit like the appeal which the old Star Wars movies had over the recent trilogy. The fact that there was a physical trickery and slight danger to it as opposed to just CGI. Those old images of the construction workers having their lunch high up on the beams of the Empire State buildfing in the 1920's would not have been as cool if they were just done on CS4 either.

I think it's really cool, definitely cool to have an interesting story behind the shots. And LOL at sheik, he's probably pms'ing.
