Anyone here ever used one? It's made for the Hensel ringflash but since it's identical to the Elinchrom, i was thinking of picking it up. I've read a few favorable reviews online. And was thinking of how simple it would be to have one handy to switch from the ring look to the small octa look without needing an extra light and stand.
If anyone has any experience mounting one or anything to add, it'd be greatly appreciated.

While I've never used that, I've certainly used the ABR800, with the moon unit. If you try and shoot it handheld with the moonunit attach, it can be done....but is certainly unwieldy. Are you planning on using it on camera, or off-camera and are just spending that money to avoid having to pull out another/different light?
imho, the number one ringflash modifier that I would buy....is THIS (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/585844-REG/Hensel_3441_Standard_Reflector_for_Ringflash.html) . Basically, it melds your ringflash into a combination ringflash/beauty dish...and I'm sure it'll put out AWESOME light.
I'll be selling my ABR800 to eventually upgrade to the ranger version, for that specific reason.

Jeff,
Well mostly it's so i don't have to pull out another light. I was hoping someone would have some first hand experience with setting it up and breaking it down.
I too had the ABR800 with moonunit. It was kludgey and while cheap, it's not a good representation of mounting. I had the grid from PCB too, it had a great look to it. And i completely understand wanting the standard reflector.
My hope is that i can have a ring and a small octa within just a minute. It could come in useful in certain situations. I'm hoping... I don't want it to replace the DO, but instead act like it so i can walk around and have it like a mini octa all in one self contained unit while attached to the camera.
I just wish these damn things were cheaper.

btw, Falcon Eyes, (not big here in the US) appears to have Hensel Ringflash modifiers, but if you buy in Europe, i think it comes in around the same price. So that's a no go...

Would be nice if it was really cheap in HK and they shipped here though.... :( one can only wish. $449. plus $183. for the grid, is just too expensive for the standard modifier.
