Elinchrom light output

Am I guessing right here: that if I get a RX600, it's only going to put out a half stop more light than the BX400 which I have, do strobes figure the same way as hotlights?

Is it really about wattage output or are those just names?

There is quite a difference in duration too. Not that it would always matter in a studio setting.
