View Full Version : Fit a 24-70 to a 1.4x con

Has anyone experience with fitting a 1.4x converter to a 24-70L with a 12 mm extension tube?

I'm just curieus to hear if it is possible. I have the con and the lens and it is easier to take a 1.4x con with me and have (a bit) more zoom than carrying my 70-200L also around in some situations.

I've read the thread about focusing more than infinnity, so the problem of putting an extension tube between camera and lens and not be able to focus at infinnity should not be there.

have you ever tried an extension tube? you can't focus even close to infinity even with the 12mm. this idea is really not going to be practical.

No i've never tried an extension tube. Therefore i was asking if it was possible.

Can anyone please tell me if it's possible to use the 24-70 f 2.8 with a 2 x teleconverter?

If you are talking about the Canon 1.4x and 2.0x TCs, then, no, you will not be able to use either of these TCs with the 24-70 f/2.8 L lens.

It should be possible with the Tamron or Kenko brands.

You will not get inf. focus with any ext tube (on just about any lens.) Tele ext and ext tubes are made for telephoto lenses - yours doesn't really qualify. The resolution won't be too great = why bother? Did you have something in mind that you were trying to get pix of? Or just looking for an excuse to buy more "goodies"?

I didn't had something special in mind. Just curious if it would fit. The lens and con are in my camerabag, so just asked if they would fit together. Just for fun and info.

And for the goodies... i've a hole list of goodies that are prior to a 12mm extension tube.
