View Full Version : G1 locks up outside?

I experienced a really strange problem with my G1 today. I was using the camera indoors at Science North. Everything was going fine, then I stepped outdoors to take a picture of the lake. The camera started acting strangely. The display went dark, it refused to take a picture, and when I tried to turn it off, the lens would not retract. I finally got it to shut down properly by switching it to playback, then back to off. After 2 or 3 attempts at taking a picture outside, I went inside in a huff. Low and behold, the camera started working again!
I used it for another hour inside and it worked fine. Being curious, I went back outside to attempt taking that same picture. Once again the camera started acting up. I did finally get the shot after 2 playback-off-on cycles. It seemed to me that the bright sunny day outside was affecting the camera somehow. I know this sounds rediculous, but I have no other explanation. The camera always started working fine when taken indoors. A third test was made in the parking lot as we were leaving, and again the camera acted up. Has anyone else noticed anything strange with their G1 in this regard?
