I hope someone can help me. I have been using GoodSync to back my work up onto a Lacie external hard drive without any problems. I have just purchased another Lacie external hard drive as a secondary backup. Can anyone tell me how I set up GoodSync so that my work is backed up onto both hard drives at the same time in one action. I have tried setting up a new job on GoodSync giving the new hard drive as the destination but when I run it it just says that there is no new information to be backed up and does nothing even though the drive is completely empty. It has just not copied any of the files over. Can anyone help?

Being a network admin I haven't run into many backup programs that allow you to simultaneously make two backup [images] on two different drives - but most will allow you to make a second batch job. I've never used that software but even the free version says it can do this (just not many files). You can set a second job to synchronize the backup drive with the new drive and set it to run after the first job is done. If the software is limited to running only one job at a time that's fine too, it will just take longer.

If you're serious about needing dual simultaneous or continuous backups there's Backup Exec. Not sure how much a non-business version will run or if they even sell the personal versions anymore, but it's powerful backup software. There is also Tivoli by IBM, Acronis True Image, NovaBACKUP and the ever popular (and free) SyncBack.

Thanks for your reply. I managed to sort out the problem by renaming the second Lacie external hard drive as the software was seeing both hard drives as one as they were both named Lacie and therefore only backing up the data to one of the hard drives.

...........Can anyone tell me how I set up GoodSync so that my work is backed up onto both hard drives at the same time in one action. .........

1) Throw out Goodsync
2) Get get MS Synctoy 2.0 (its free)
3) Connect BOTH your drives to your computer so that each get a drive letter. (lets say X and Y)
4) In Synctoy you back up by creating a "FOLDER PAIR". So create a Folder Pair for each of your drives so that each X and Y independently sync with the folder where your folders are kept (lets say C:\Photos). So you will end up creating two folder pairs, lets say 'Photos2XDrive' and 'Photos2YDrive'.
5) Check to see if each of them work independently. If they work independently then you are good to go.
6) You will see two FOLDER PAIRS that work. Just click last option call "ALL FOLDER PAIRS" and then both will be activated at the same time. Hit Preview to check and then RUN.
