The Waverley Paddle Steamer has just started it's summer tour of the Bristol Channel, I took these photo's at Black Rock which is situated between the two Seven crossings with a 300D & 100-400L IS, this is a fantastic lens to use in this situation because of it's long zoom range. (Quadphoto)

Nice shots (especially the second with the lighthouse...very nautical). And a beautiful boat !

Love to see pictures of this old ship, and these are excellent examples.

I think my favourite would be no.2.
I like the composition with the small lighthouse.
Would that be Black Rock Lighthouse ?

Thanks for sharing.

I have a few of Waverly too, she spends a lot of time on the River Clyde.

She's also the world's last sea-going paddle steamer, and is apparently the most photographed ship in the world too!

scr7b thank you for your reply, in fact thanks to every one who has replied to this thread. I have been a fan of the Waverley for a very long time and have sailed on her many times, I can rember school trips well over 40 years ago when we used to sail from Newport in South Wales to Weston-Super-Mare on the Paddle Steamer. The Waverly is sailing upto Sharpness Docks on the Bristol Chanel next Wednesday and hope to get some photo's to post up. ( Quadphoto )

Im looking for a picture of the Waverley and a background of the bridges / Severn Estuary for the front cover of the next issue of Severn Tidings, newsletter of the Severn Estuary Partnership.

Do you have a portrait shot?

Also - would it be possible to use the shots here in our newsletter and other leaflets.

We are a non-profit partnership, working for the future of the estuary.

For more see- www.severnestuary.net/sep (http://www.severnestuary.net/sep)

Best regards,

Jim Mitchell
