Hi -
I am thinking about building a set to take pictures of my many models - mostly mcfarlene figures.
Do you guys have any suggestions on the best way to do this? And also what kind of light to use?
I am thinking about painting a large box black right now, but maybe putting a material on the box would give better results.

if you dont want to use alot of money, bring your models outside, buy some really thin nylon fabric and put it between your object and the sun as a diffuser to have a even lighting casing on top of your model, and have a reflector on the side as a shawdow creator to make the model have more interseting lighting. you will be suprised at how well it will turn out.

It will be OK the first time, but then you'll be plagued by clouds & changes in color temp. You'd be better off indoors with simple lighting. See the examples here:
