Today I popped into my local camera store "Jessops" to by a wired remote for my 300D. Anyways, I picked up an RS60-E3 and some lens cleaning stuff and was wondering about until I spotted the 350D.

YERK! It is TINY! I know a lot of people have criticised the size of it and I didn't really take notice thinking that they might be over-reacting but seriously.

Wow!

Its like a kiddies toy!

You're right about the size, but small size has its advantages too. I was used to a big 'ol EOS Elan 7e with battery grip, but I like the size of the Rebel XT alot.

I think it's just perfect, I had Olympus OMs for years and the 300d was bigger than I felt comfortable with.

I traded my 300D for a 350 last week and I'm still getting used to the size. I definitely prefer the size of the 300 but the advantages of the 350 outweigh the size complaint. :)

if you get the battery pack its not bad at all..not that it is without it..
besides with the pack it balances big lenses well and without it you can put a small lense on it and its the size of a larger point and shoot..not bad...

One thing I noticed when holding a 20D and the 350/XT is that they feel different when you have and don't have a lens on it.

For me, the XT felt just right with no lens on it and the 20D felt too big.
But as soon as I put on a lens, the XT felt too small and the 20D felt better.

Anyone else feel this way?

350D + Tamron 28-75mm + BatteryGrip = Beast of a camera

350D + 50mm 1.4 + No batter grip = Super inconspicuous and non attention grabbing.

It's size is fine with me.

Not a fan of the size, although it seems perfect for the target market. If I could go back I'd buy the 300D for size alone or a 20D if I could afford it.

Great little camera but the size is a let down if you're used to an EOS Film camera

A matter of taste. I love the size, but will get the grip to balance my 80-200 "tube" since it's so darn heavy. :D

I like others was turned down by the size of the XT. When I held it, the construction and size made it feel like a toy. I think for women, its the perfect size, but in my hands its too small. So when it came down to it, I had eliminated it from my field and settled on the Nikon D70 and Canon 20D, both of which felt like full size grown up camera's. In the end I went with the Canon 20D because of other features.

Size difference.

I think the 300D is too bulky and weird feeling. I would like if the grip on the XT was a bit bigger though. but it's a great cam!

I shot film for many years, and it is approximately the same size as my old Pentax Super Program. My reaction wasn't that the XT was small; rather, it was how big all the other DSLRs were. This is the perfect size for me to walk around and take street photos.

I bet the 350D with the grip would be a nice little package. Not to mention, the 350D's grip is supposed to be miles ahead of the one for the 20D in terms of quality.
Btw, you might want to see this thread (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=66653)with pictures of the diff camera sizes.
One of the first things I noticed is how small the viewfinder is on the 350D

Gordon, I hope to go where you have just gone! I have held the 350 in a shop and the size is one of the features I like as well as the rapid startup. I love my SLRs but don't want to be weighed down!

So what are your first thoughts having upgraded??
