Not sure if this is the correct forum to hold this discussion but it has to do with glamour and nudes or provacative images.
A client is asking me to photograph her so she may send her man sexy images of her. He is locked up for a crime and she wants to keep the fire hot for him by teasing him with lots of skin. I know there are regulations with sending photos to inmates and nothing can be pornographic. I am wondering I anyone else here has done something like this.
Any advice is much appreciated.

The avatar is perfect for this one. Women who love men behind bars. I can't answer your question, but I just thought the whole idea of this is so Jerry Springer.

Hmmmm... if i was 'inside' and saw photos of the wife in underwear, i would be wondering who the hell took them, and what else they were up to.
For all you know he could be in for beating someone up who 'looked' at his wife, never mind took semi naked photos of her.
Be VERY careful, she might be doing it to get him jealous.

There must many women, especially young ones that want glamour shots, and go to a professional or serious amateur to have them taken. They don't need to give any reason for it, after all, they are paying. Why did she go to the lengths you detail to explain why she wants them? It sounds to me as if she is enjoying the whole process, and seems to be relishing the encounter with the photographer above all else. In fact, I doubt that the husband in prison even exists.

Have you considered contacting the prison he is staying at, and asking them what they allow and consider acceptable?
Then you can get the only answer you know to be 100% correct.

How many years to plot the revenge on who took the pictures :D
Only messing....
Just say you will only do glamor shots, no nudity
Knowing my luck i would do it with clothed shots and she would write on the back of the picture, and send saying:
"heres just a sample, wait till you get out, ill show you what else me and the photographer got up too"
DONT watermark them :)

DONT watermark them :)
Why not? You could watermark them with the name of a photographer you don't like!

when you do pictures for anybody do you keep notes on how they will use them in the future? I am not sure if prison is really relevant here, what happens if any model showed her boyfriend or partner any picture? if you are not comfortable doing this type of work for what ever reason, just politely refuse to do it. She is welcome to contact another source for the pictures.

I used to be a prison officer and this reminds me of an inmate we had. He too had some very revealing photos of his missus, and he often used to gloat by showing some of the officers the pictures and stating he bet they didn't have anything like that at home!
This happened a couple of times until one of the officers simply replied 'nice pictures, who took them?' You could almost see the spread of understanding cross the inmate's face as he suddenly twigged to something that had never occurred to him. The next thing we knew he was rushing to the phones, presumably to try and get hold of his missus, and he didn't look too happy.
Put an end to his gloating though.

You could prob look up the state or federal website for the prison and find out the contraband regulations but personally that should be the client's responsibility to research. But in all honesty, I would stick to the glamor and stay away from the nude/implied stuff.

Many questions can be answered by simply evaluating risk and reward.

I have worked as both a state and federal correctional officer. More than likely if the pictures are revealing they won't make it to the inmate. Doesn't have to be nude, just revealing. And kind of depends on who is in the mailroom going through the mail. Which in about 95% of male prisons is a female.
But as Saturnin said, take the pictures. It's up to her what to do with them. I wouldn't put my name or anything on them though...lol

Shoot the shots, take the cash, and go on your way. I don't see why you'd be concerned with whether or not the prison would let the guy have the shots....unless you were like, trying to sneak a couple of yourself in there too ;)
And as far as her actually telling you why she wants the shots, I think it's just an attention-grabbing line. Sure, the hubby may be real and be in prison, but she knows she didn't have to tell you that. Gives it a certain hint of naughtiness, I guess, I dunno. http://stats.fm/uploads/G/w.gifhttp://stats.fm/uploads/B/P.gif

then again he might come after you for upsetting his mrs for turning her away from a shoot
Its a service, and as long as you're not in shot I'd say you should be fine. Or refer it to a female 'tog friend?

Personally, I like the idea of referring her to a female photographer. It just doesn't sound quite right, as in something doesn't add up. Not worth the hassle IMO.

I work for the Michigan Department of Corrections and at my Facility there cannot be any nudity in the pic but lots of skin is fine as long as the privates are covered. Which I actually believe is wrong. With the wife and I being nudists I don't think the human body is a sacred thing. If God wanted us to wear clothes we would have been born with clothes on lol.

I have done these type pictures for military family's who's spouse was called to duty. They have even more strict code of what is allowed to be shipped internationally to someone on the front line. Fact is, the person who the picture is intended already knows what their partner looks like nude. You don't need or want to be overly explicit for reason's listed above. The model and intended recipient will respect you for being suggestive but not heading the direction of anything pornographic. Simply suggest new lingerie that the recipient has never seen. Maybe a role play that they may have discussed but never done (ie school girl outfit, etc) but again, full nudity isn't a requirement to having a very sexy picture that shows a great amount of restraint yet fills the purpose for a loved one who can't be there. You aren't after all showing them something new, but something in a new way.

i agree 100% with him. i attend college in huntsville, tx. ive seen my fair share of inmates and hear prison stories all the time from my friends that work as guards. i mean a job is a job. you might think jealousy is immature and a high school thing. but they are in prison for a reason. and if we speak of prison id like to assume the worst and not the best case scenario. just be careful. good luck and god bless.
