Hello all- I was just hired to shoot a volley ball team of 10 girls. Normally, I don't like shooting team sports, but they specifically hired me for the style I shoot in (high drama using strobes, to blow out the sun etc). Since that was the reason, I went ahead and agreed...
I generally like to shoot environmental portraits, with semi high powered strobes and rim lights. I have several mid sized softboxes and 1 very large octabox.
Heres my question: Im shooting these girls in doors in their gym, and I plan on shooting the group with the large octa over them using a 900ws strobe. Also, I plan on using 2 snooted 350 ws lights as rims to seperate them from the background. What hazards should I be prepared for ahead of time? Im used to doing this set up outdoors, and have had VERY good success so far. Its a tad commercial looking, but for portraits I think the clients like it.
Heres a example of what im THINKing of doing for the style http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3009/2904615760_9da671f78f.jpg?v=0 but with a lot less photoshop. I know there will be some ambient light issues with the over heads...
...any advice you can offer?
