Phil, you never cease to amaze me with what you put into your composition eg: the tree in #5, the flowers in #6 and the safety fence in #8...F*ing brilliant.
I've said it before and I'll say it again...love your work.

Thanks all,
These have had a much better reaction than I was expecting.
Was wanting to be just a little different to the norm.

I shudder to think how close you must've had to stand to get these >_< Great shots, though, and worth it :)

I like the idea of most of your shots, but with the exception of the tree shot they didn't work for me. I thought shot #3 had a lot of potential, but I would have liked to have seen the shot angled down further so that the car in the middle was not distorted, but the distortion at the edges was still exaggerating the corner angle. Shot #4 is the sort of thing I expected to see, but I would have liked to have seen the car a little more in side on, with the front made to look massive by the fisheye and the back still normal in the centre. Great ideas, but I don't think the fisheye has quite worked with where the cars are placed.

With the cars doing anything up to 290km/h, it's not always that easy to frame them perfectly.

Stagger me,
I can't believe this thread has been re-born.
Thanks for the added comments.
Edit...And the number of views it's had is just insane...over 1400

No probs but can you elaborate on why not.
I thought shot #3 had a lot of potential, but I would have liked to have seen the shot angled down further so that the car in the middle was not distorted, but the distortion at the edges was still exaggerating the corner angle.
I wanted to maintain the whole look of the terrain of that part of the track - it's a very steep and demanding piece of race circuit.
I was trying to capture and enhance, that aspect of it by using the fisheye to exaggerate the uphill entry and exit and at the same time show the whole of the corner.
Shot #4 is the sort of thing I expected to see, but I would have liked to have seen the car a little more in side on, with the front made to look massive by the fisheye and the back still normal in the centre.
Do you mean something like this

Great ideas, but I don't think the fisheye has quite worked with where the cars are placed.
The idea wasn't really to make the car the focal point but to include it in the whole of the scene and exaggerate the effects of the fisheye.

Close enough to touch them if you were wanting to be REALLY brave

But it's a lot safer than it looks from the pic above even if they are still doing about 130 kph (around 80mph)

Hi Phil!
I actually really liked the pics, refreshing... i like them all.
Totally off topic, but how exactly did you go about getting accreditation?
I looked up the form and they were pretty much only accepting people who were there for work (magazine...newspapers etc...)
The forms pretty much made me not bother even trying for accreditation because i don't shoot for any mags or have motorsport references...
I'd love to get some accred for next year!
I also saw some of your rally pics... man, i'd love to pick your brains apart about techniques you use!
