Hi everyone,

I just wanted to make a thread to say hi to the rest of the forums. No idea if there was an introduction thread anywhere, but if there is i apologize for misplacing this thread. I recieved a Nikon D3000 from my wonderful girlfriend this year as a gift, she has known that ive wanted to get into photography as a hobby so that was very thoughtful.

I have been reading up on the basics of photography, as I want to stay off the auto function as much as possible. I noticed this was a Canon forum, but I hope to learn lots of cool and interesting techniques! :p

So just to reiterate, 'Hello POTN!'.

Welcome aboard! There are plenty of folks with Nikon experience around here (although most are now Canon shooters), so I expect you will get some good input. Also remember, the camera is just the tool, learning the craft is what you really want to do. A good piece of literature doesn't care which typewriter was used . . . the writer may have a preference, but the end result is what counts.

Yesss sirr, ive seen many examples of 'the weapon is only as good as its wielder' type stuff. So I am leaning more towards perfecting technique before worrying about how limiting my camera may be.
