Here is my team's Cessna 172S after performing a power-off landing in the box. This was by far my favorite shot during the day. I'll post more shots as I run them through some post processing. Awards ceremony is later on this morning. We have a young team this year, but hopefully we'll be able to fly back a little heavier than when we arrived

You are right, it is a fantastic shot. I love the angle of the frame. I don't think the shot would have been as good if you weren't at ground level.

Good luck!
Thanks! We placed 6 out of 7, but like I said we had a young team. Most of the guys are new to the Flight Team, except one, and out of our 12 guys 8 of them were brand new students. One of our guys placed 5th in the preflight event and we also received the Team Safety award. Several of our guys placed within the top 10 or 20 for their respective events. They're all fired up and ready to go for next year.
I'll post more pics in a few...

Definately hard to get "hangar rash" with five guys moving a C172... :D
(The guy on the tow bar should keep his arm out of the prop arc though)

That's the first thing I noticed. Ok, second after the bright yellow safety vests.

I see they've got registration marks on the tires. Were they using high speed video of some kind to record exactly where aircraft were touching down?

No, it just helps the judges determine the point of touchdown. There is a "zero line" with a box beginning 100 feet before the zero line and extends 200 feet down runway from the zero line. The objective is to land in the box as close to the zero line as possible. They do power off landings and power on short field landings.

Thanks! At national competition a lot of the teams will submit safety manuals that they adhere to.
It really was. I had a lot of fun coaching.
