Last night saw the biggest MPDA event in the competitions history, with the most amazing display of talent the world has seen. This event has taken over the world pole dance competition as a hub of talent, and it wasnt hard to see why. The crowd was very vocal and the atmosphere electric.

This also turned out to be my first ever real shooting gig, so I was nervous as all hell. Seeing other guys rock up with massive lenses was really intimidating, but I tried to focus on my work. I knew I had one major advantage though: my partner has been poledancing for 3 years and is at a very high standard herself, so I've been lucky to have learned the moves and when to shoot them.

So here we are, many more to follow so please continue to check every few days as my processing heap slowly shrinks..

Awesome pictures.
Must have been extremely difficult shooting...... very little light and fast moving dancers.
Siggy 30/1.4??
Thnx for sharing.

Wow, thanks everyone :)

I'm going to be shooting another pole competition this coming Friday (I really do enjoy it, the girls kick so much @ss), albeit, this time I wont be dealing with such ideal lighting conditions... I hope it comes out okay!

Pretty okay set technically.

That being said, unless you're required to deliver a certain amount of images, 45 is too much for an event like this IMO. Just like (say) a bunch of singer-songwriters on stage, after 20 images of a "guy with guitar" (or "girl with pole") I'm starting to think the selection could have been tighter...

Nice subjects and action and all, but quite a bit "much of the same". This way the good images are diminished by the "okay-ish" images.
