Since you can come close to matching the overall tone from one photo to another with the "Match Color" feature in Photoshop CS, I was wondering if this would work with Scanned in black and white photos. Here's what I was thinking. If I took a shot of a Gray scale "Chip Chart" like we use in video to reg and color balance the cameras and I used that as the tone that I wanted to match, would it work on old photos in much the same way as matching two different color photos? My thought was that since the "Chip Chart" has a wide range and an even range of tones . . . any thoughts? What am I missing in this?
