Got this release of the HP press site.

Feb. 18, 2005 — In advance of the annual Photo Marketing Association (PMA) show in Orlando, HP today announced new products and solutions that further the company’s leadership in the digital photography market, delivering best-in-class quality, ease of use and affordability for beginners as well as pros.

From now on, rememeber, HP is the best! LOL

I'm sorry I couldn't help myself, I never thought they would have the balls to actually say something like that.

Cheers, *falls of chair laughing*

To be fair they didn't mention cameras or lenses, they just said "photography". That term could mean many things including printers, for example.

True........but I when you say photography, the first thing that pops to mind is not a printer haha.

I have a Photosmart 7762 and an 8450...they're both excellent (well the build quality of the lever on the first one is awful, but apart from that...) The prints are superb, ink is good quality (if expensive) but the overall cost per print is one of the lowest in class.

But I would never buy an HP camera!

A friend of mine had an HP SLR style camera that was quite good...apart from the red visible AF assist beam. You be sitting down say having a cup of tea then youd be showered in red light.

Not a good camera if you want candid shots.

Now that they fired Fiorina (thank god), I hope to see new things comming out from HP. Most of what they sell, they buy from Asian OEMS companies and they put the hp sticker (with exception of the printers, which they do some research). HP is in the lowest ever mood for any innovation whatsoever and has become a new Asian-import Kmart.

They said "best in class", they just didn't say what class. I'll agree - they've got about the best 5-th class stuff out there. The slide was on before they got Carly - maybe her departure reflects a return to the original HP (that's now called Agilent) goals and mission.

I agree with Jon - they said best in class, without saying what class they thought they're in.
