SX10 Not Detected by Computer

Hello,

I was wondering if any other SX10 users have experienced their SX10 no longer being recognized by the computer it's plugged into via the USB cable?

It worked for about 6 months and then one day, my PC stopped recognizing it. My laptop won't recognize it either now. I also tried it with another USB cable but to no avail. Any suggestions?

What OS on the computer? Sometimes updates and security patches can cause issues. Welcome to the forum.

I initially thought the same thing about the updates. My PC runs Windows Vista but my laptop is on Windows XP with updates disabled. It's not recognizable on either. I've had to resort to using the card reader on my laptop. It's not a big issue but since the camera is still on warranty...

Do you have any issues with other USB accessories? Have you tried plugging in an external card reader or even a USB keyboard to see if that is recognized? The other option would be to try it on a different computer...do you have a friend or family member that would let you plug in and see if it connects there?

Other USB accessories like memory sticks are recognized as usual.

I would definitely see if you could try it on another computer....and also another try another USB cable...just as an interesting aside....the cable that goes to my bluetooth headset has the same connections as the cord for the camera...but it will not work with the camera. The cable that came with the camera and also the camera that came with my GPS both work fine with the camera. I would experiment with cables.

Do you have a scanner or webcam installed on either computer? Frequently that can cause the OS to get confused.
