Arrived home from a night shift just before dawn this morning to find Orion well and truly evident after a long summer sojourn.

With the sky getting lighter by the minute, I decided to just put the camera on the tripod and grab a wide field view.

A couple of observations; the orange cast on the tree is caused by a sodium street light outside our house, which is a pain for observing too. Without a completely dark sky, it's difficult to get even a hint of nebulosity from the Orion Nebula. With a 30 sec exposure, I was surprised at how much evidence there is of star trailing, despite using the kit 17-85mm lens at 17mm. It's not so evident in this web sized image, but it's there.
