Hi,
I would like to buy a deflector, most likely 5in1.
Can't decide - oval or circle ? What is better for shooting people outside ?
Also, is there any rule when to use what color ?
For example - bright sun - white color ; cloudy - silver or gold...
Thanx

Welcome to the forum..
I believe you mean reflector.. A great addition to anyone's kit especially if they are shooting portraits..
Reflectors come in many colours, shapes and sizes.. I used to use a piece of 4' x 5' x 6" polystyrene in my studio which worked great..
I have this set up which I bought off eBay cheap that I like..

I prefer to use the matte white side for more natural diffuse effect.. Silver can be a tad harsh as can the gold which I find adds an unnatural yellow glow to the skin tones.. Many glamour photographers prefer gold reflectors..

Oh, deflector :-))
Sorry.
Yeah, I believe white color is the one most used. I tried sun shade from car windshield, which is similar to silver reflector, it did work but was little too harsh as you said, something like direct flash.
I want to buy exactly what you have, but probably in oval shape - I will use it mostly outside and if I have to take group photos (4-5 people) I think oval shape would be better to reflect their faces.
