Went out to try to get some sunset shots. But it was lots of clouds.
I like the way the clouds seems to come towards you.
There were some annoying telephone lines that have been removed with the clone tool.
There where a guy throwing snow from the deck that caused the the ripple in the bottom right
The left side was cropped since it was overexposed
Processed in Photomatix and tweaked in CS4.

First I used Photomatix to tonemap the three images. Then I used Topaz Lab to bring out the colors, used masks to not do the entire image.
amazing
Thank you

Thank you. I wasn't so sure when I took it. When I looked at it on the PC there was a wire running from left and to the middle top of the image. But I was able to remove it with cloning. So after that I saw the potensial of this image.

Arctic, it's a beautiful moody image. I like the composition and those ripples don't bother me at all.
What I do find a little distracting is that you've got two different color temperatures going here. It almost makes it look like two separate shots were stitched together from different times of the day. Either tone would be very pleasing to the eye - the warmth from the left, or the cooler values on the right. But to have both in a single image causes a bit of a visual conflict IMHO.
Apologies for the nitpicking.... just want to see a very nice image made better. Stu

I agree. I must admit that this location didn't give me any good vibes while shooting.
very nice!

Trust me this is not something I've done. It could be that the processing have done something to this image. But the light up here in the North have a cold temperature since the sun is so low for the moment. So I think this is natural and not something that have been altered by the software. If there should be any unnatural it must be the warmth that you see :)
But this image have been altered in Topaz labs to bring out the colors.
The original image is as cold as the snow you see.

This is really well done in many ways. Love this composition and processing. Never heard of Topaz Lab, gonna have to look into that. If I had to nitpick I'd say the red around the boat is overpowering. I'd desaturate that bit with a layer mask. But stunning work.

I agree with you about the red. I didn't pay to much attention on it while working on it.

You nail this. One of the best HDR's I've ever seen. The red on the ship really brings this together.

I first tried out their bundle as a 30 day demo. And ended up getting the Topaz Adjust. They still have the campaign and I think that I got some perks of being a NAAP member
that is a sweet shot
