Flash or Lens?

I have a quick question for you more experienced photographers.

I plan on getting a 20D and a Tamron 28-75 in the near future. Do you think my money would be wiser spent on a kit lens and a 580EX flash?

I will be taking a mixed variety of indoor and outdoor photos.

Just looking for advice.

if you are going to get the tamron lens with the 20D, I would suggest getting the flash.

It's just so much better than the kit lens. (However, getting the kit lens as well will help a lot with wide angle).

Also, the 420 EX or Sigma DG 500 Super flash will do many things that the 580 EX also does, for a lower price. Mind you, there *are* differences, but it strikes me as unbalanced to go for the top-of-the-line camera and flash and mediocre lens only.

It's easy to see the different lens in the final picture, but very hard to see the different flash :wink: .
