Ok, here's the problem:

I'm going to be volunteering my photography skills at my company's open house day in 2 weeks and I need some advice for a setup. The plan is to take pictures of kids sitting in the CEO's chair using my Dreb and print the picture right away (or with minimal delay) framed winth a message about the company's aniversary and such.
I was thinking of taking pictures, uploading them immediately to a laptop, inserting the picture in photoshop in a frame and printing it to our company's colour copier. Would there be a easier or faster way to do this? can all of this be accomplished within a short period of time, say 1 minute or less?

thanks,

JS

can you shoot tethered to the laptop with the Rebel?

this is what i would do.

go a bit early and shoot a few test pics, and from that create an action/droplet in photoshop that will automatically add the message, change whatever settings you need..and whatever size you need.

then all you need to do is take the picture and then use the action and print everytime :)

Thanks for the replies. I will be able to tether my camera to a laptop so that should make things easy. I didn't know about the actions/droplet functions in photoshop (i'm no photoshop pro ) but it looks like it could easily be done. thanks again for the advice!

I don't think there's an easy way to automate the crop to 8X10 paper & get it just where you want it. I think I'd do it by hand, and if I did that, I'd probably Shift+drag in the type layer from another pre-made file. Then I'd use an action to sharpen, print , save & close the file.
