search advice

When I look for a 70-200 I search for "70-200". To get all results, I need to search for 70-200L, 70-200mm, and 70-200.
I thought all searches (other than here) gave you all of the above when just searching for 70-200.

Any advice?

Our Sphinx search engine is tuned for camera terms like 70-200 and f/2.8-5.6 which are not possible with standard MySQL fulltext search. The engine works like a dictionary (words) and it considers 70-200L and 70-200 different words.

We do have 8,7 million posts to search from so I think it is better to have fewer exact results than thousands of close ones.
