Please critique me:

On my next attempt I will move closer to the water and get a lower perspective to get rid of some more rock on the left. Also will use a wider aperture (f/8 used in this shot).

Where was the point of focus? I would have liked the ducks to be in sharper focus. But that's me... Other wise the colors are great.

Maybe a smaller aperture would be better next time, to catch more detail across the entire image.

I tried to use the 'hyperfocal distance' but failed. Need to read up on that or just use a larger aperture.

I would have liked more background and less foreground. The background, the bridge and the very pretty autumn leaves, are far more interesting than the rocks that dominate the foreground.

I agree with you, but just above the top of this crop is a big, ugly overpass. I could zoom in slightly so that the bridge is on the right side of the photo, do you think that would work well?

Have you tried cutting off the water completely and making a panorama? If you went this route I'd still recommend adding as much to the top as possible.

yes, I agree. The front rock on the first one dominates and second one much better. Excellent fall colors.

I like it a lot as a panorama too, though I was hoping to get something I could use as a 16:10 background on my PC. I plan to return to this spot in the near future and will take a few more shots.

Also, this was taken at 4pm and is facing east. Would it work better during the early am (sun camera front) or late pm (sun behind me)?
