I've moved into the niche of candid children's photography and I've found the children much easier if you give them their treats and hype them up before the photoshoot. Otherwise they're in a playground and being forced to be 'good' while at play, in exchange for future treats.

I'm just throwing this out. Discuss!

Ok Mark - I bit so shame on me.

What's the deal with the embedded advertisement in your post? That's a bit on the misleading side and somewhat in poor taste. You trying to steer business to the hidden URL? I think you'll get some discussion all right.

When you clicked on NICHE, it took you to a sales site, plugging some sort of product. Since I've commented, I see he now removed the URL link.

or a mod did... another remote possibility is that your PC has a virus. Word <> sales link replacement is a common vector.

The former is possible - the latter.... could be I suppose, although I keep my antivirus current and scan everyday. Well, at least it's gone now....

Did the link go to porn, and if so, was the porn good? Share and share alike!

Now, back on topic...

I don't, not really. An apology from you would be nice, but I definitely do not want a discussion.

OK Mark - looks like it's time for me to serve up a plate of crow for myself. I do owe you an apology; sorry man.

As one of the mods had suggested, I did a program check of my PC and found something I'd never seen before, or was even aware of: PLAYSUSHI ENTERTAINMENT. I'm guessing this is some sort of adware that snuck onto the machine during installation of something else. When I looked at your LinkedIn, I also found a couple of phrases that were URL'd to PlaySushi also.

I have since uninstalled the offending s/w from my PC. For grins, I went back to your LinkedIn and did not see any more "hidden URL's." That may or may not mean anything. You may want to check your machine also. Btw - cute kid shots. - Stu

If in fact you had nothing to with embedding that sales URL in your first post - which was there for a very short time - then I offer my sincere apology.

I don't, not really. An apology from you would be nice, but I definitely do not want a discussion.

I have never actually used treats.. I've only been in the biz for about a year though.. But if I ever come across a little stinker that is not on board I will have to try it! Thanks for the tip!

I'm not above bribery with candy, but..... I always ask the parent if it is ok, if it is not, i give stickers, and i never allow them to have it right away for two reasons: don't want red jelly beans juice dripping on their white shirts and I don't want them hyper. Yes, I give 'em candy and don't let them eat it. However, here is how I do it: after speaking with the parent, I give the parent a tiny gift bag and tell the kid that after every shot, if they are good helpers, they can come and get a candy to put in the bag. I explain that "helpers" means that they do their job while I do mine. THeir job is to do what I ask, smile or not, sit stand whatever. I build up lots of excitement after the shot and they run to the candy jar and put a jelly bean in the bag. Sometimes "helping" has nothing to do with smiling. Sometimes I have them pick up a prop and put it on the background. that's a jelly bean earner. Sometimes I might say, "I know it is hard to sit there while your little brother is fussing, you earn a jelly bean for that." Whether they leave with a bag of candy is completely up to them.
Having said THAT, the thing I always do is periodically tell the kid to go to their mom or dad and get a hug because mom and dad is SO proud of them. "That was AWESOME, Kevin. Look, Mommy wants to give you a hug, go get a hug...." THAT works wonders. Have fun yourself. That works wonders too. : )
