I have to do 50+ head shots tonight. Right now my plan is to place the shoulders at 30 degrees or so to the camera, have them look straight at the camera, and take the shot with them angled both left and right. I'll do a quick check to make sure I got at least one good one per person. Gear: Tamron 28-75 on a tripod, 550EX, LightSphere 2. I might even keep a list of names so I can match names and faces.

Any tips?

I don't know... but 50+ headshots sounds like a lot. Good luck :)

Make sure that you'll have enough time. You'll need AT LEAST 2+ hours for that. ;-)

Nah, did it in 30 minutes, production line style. They weren't for publicity or public viewing, just to help performers in a production learn everyone elses names. They came out suprisingly well!
