Well,

Work is sending me to the Chicago area for a Trade Show, gonna be there for about 4 days with 1 day of play time.

Anyone have ideas where a good spot would be for night photography, or some day time?

I also need some help finding a good photo store there, as google local is not helping. Somewhere near the O'Hare Airport.

If you're going to be downtown. Buckingham Fountain is great for night shots.

Calumet Photo has a store in Bensenville which is real close to O'Hare. They also have a store in the city but I don't know exactly where. If you have something in particular you are looking for, call the Bensenville store and they will have it shipped there from their main warehouse and have it waiting for you. They are real good about that. URL is below.

What trade show is work sending you to? Is it gonna be at the Donald E Stevens convention center ?(I'm guessing since u say next to O'Hare). Is it Fastener Week by any chance? I will be there next week... work is sending me there :D
Anyway, what do you want to shoot? Rosemont is a very good looking place, you can take some very nice shots at night of the Rosemont theater, or Allstate arena, all the little parks around, etc...
As for photo store, Calumet is the best around the O'Hare area. It's quite close, very knowledgeable and friendly salespeople, I buy a lot of stuff from them. You can give them a call at (630) 860-7458 if you want.
Anyway, enjoy your visit!

Millenium park is very neat but I think the "Bean" is covered and off exhibit right now for work, (I believe they are doing the laser soldering so it'll be seamless finally.) or at least it was last Sunday when I parked there before seeing Wicked (http://www.wickedthemusical.com/).

There is a TON to shoot downtown Chicago, where you go really depends upon what you're looking for.

Im gonna be with the Hosting Con at the Hyatt Regency near O'Hare.

Thanks for the replies guys. Yes its this weekend, I arrive on the 5th.

And since the convention is at the same hotel, we 'wont be needing any car' as said by my employer. So If i go it would probably be only once into the city.

you don't need a car really. the train station is about 2 minutes away walking distance from the Hyatt. The blue line will take you in middle of downtown. I'll be a stone throw away at the convention center next week :).

Navy Pier! You can get some great night shots in the general navy pier including the huge Ferris Wheel, and all the tourists out enjoying the evening.

They have fireworks Wed 9:30pm and Sat 10:15 every week as well.

Oh .. yea.. how could I forget navy pier.

cmM is right, you can catch the "L" to downtown for about $2.00 i think. Once down there .. u wont have enough time to shoot all that you want.
