Myself & a few mates made the long trip up to the isle of mull off the west coast of scotland for the 40th running of the tour of mull rally!
A fantastic event which is mainly run at night over some of the best tarmac roads around!
There can't be many rallies left where you would get a 2wd podium,mk2 escorts 1st & 2nd & a bmw mini 3rd........and there were plenty of 4wd cars out!
Here's a few shots

Thanks Phil
I struggled myself,i had recently bought a nissen flash to replace my sigma that died & this was my 1st night event, for some reason it wouldn't work on full manual  & on shutter priority it wasn't giving out enough light.....so had to use it on auto which was only giving me 1/60th shutter speed, all things considered they haven't turned out to bad.....lol

A nice set, Pete. I love the Darrian pic, nice angle. I've yet to try night photography. I see Dennis Biggerstaff upholding Irish honour.

Cheers Phil,That Darrian is a bit of monster (loads of grunt),seemed to be going well but he went off in dark on the Misshnish lochs stage i think?
Dennis didn't have a good event either,he got a puncture on the 3rd stage & had to stop to change it!
Mind you,the winner Callum Duffy also lost 2 minutes with a punture on the 3rd stage......so he must have been really flying to pull back all that time :D

Successfully nightshots ;)
Thanks Wizaron.....Fairly successfull......could have been better though

I was talking to the engineer for a Darrian entry on the Lakeland Stages Rally, over here in N.Ireland a few weeks ago, and it was fitted with a Millington Diamond 2.5 litre engine. Those engines are kicking out 280-300 BHP ! Couple that with the Darrian's super-light weight and you have one seriously quick car ! It was previously fitted with a V6, but I don't know what capacity. They had to change the engine due to a rule change.

Good to see the MkII still winning rallies.

Cracking series of night time shots ,Pete.
Love the black mk 2 and the Bickerstaff shot .
How did the mk2s beat that beast !
Thanks for posting ,

Hi, great pics. I took my camera but was servicing for 2 cars so had my hands full... Unluckily for our cars they both ran out of luck on the Saturday afternoon. Still, it was fun. The orange Darrian was running with 4 ECUs- phenominal. The other Darrian was sweet too - both had small offs in the town on SSS1+SSS2. As for the pics, the Darrian is the pick of the lot. Did you get any of 139 the green Saab?
