Spotted this on the way home tonight and I'm curious what others thoughts are on the shot itself, as well as the crop:

I like the idea and this shot is pretty cool but I might have re composed the shot so that the light within the tree is on the left side of the shot with the road down the middle. There seems to be alot of blacked out areas, a bit more detail in the darker areas would be nice.
An HDR shot would be amazing using this current composition.
Good job

I'm drawn to this type of light too. I grew up in a town that had a mansion row area with this type of lighting and it was a fantastic place to walk around. I think you have some potential to really explore some imagery with this kind of lighting and the textures in the trees.

The vantage point for this shot may not be optimum. I get the impression that we should pan to the right, getting rid of some of the left area and adding some to the right side. Otherwise the lighting and composition seem to be very good.

Thanks all :)
The problem with the right is that there's a parking lot RIGHT there, so you get the noses of cars poking into the frame. I agree though that the light post really *wants* to be on the left. Might have to go back and just reshoot this once the rain stops..

I like it, maybe a square crop and some GND midway?

I agree with Bob. Using the 1/3 composition rule, you could frame the shot with the light pole more to the left and add more elements from out of the frame on the right.

I was thinking a crop something like this...

I agree. I kept it a 2:3 ratio. To take a bit more off the top, though it would look better still, would result in an odd size.

The lamp is leaning a little to the left.
