I got this nice closeup during a Memorial day hike to some pools in the Catalina Mountains north of Tucson. This guy was busy flying around a lovely little pool but was nice enough to land long enough for me to focus my Sigma 70-300mm macro lens on him.

I think it's a nice shot, but I also think it needs some help. If you don't mind, here is my PS'd version. If you don't like it, please let me know, and I'll remove it. I made a curves adjustment, and added some saturation.

Interesting rendition, but the colors are much too strong compared to the actual appearance of the dragonfly. My image, as it appears on my monitor, at least, is pretty close to the actual color of the critter as I saw it in nature.

Of course, the stronger colors make it look more dramatic, if that is what you are after.

...and added some saturation.

A tad too much, IMHO, The original looks pretty good as it is.

just a slight increase in the saturation levels should be adequate just to enhance the subject a bit.
