Automotive Rig: suction cup marks

Hi everyone,
I just finished putting together a rig for automotive photography.
tried it today, but the problem is the suction cups are leaving marks on the cars paint.

what can I do about this?

buff it out, i heard people wipe the suction cups and surface with detailer before they mount it.

i get little rings after removing them even after a wash. just waxed the beast a few days ago so i'll see if they are still there. nothing some polish wouldn't remove. a small price to pay for zamazing pictures

a small price to pay indeed. but when you're doing it as part of a job, I'm not so sure the car's owner would be so happy

Have to say that if a photographer used a rig on my car and it left marks in the paint work, I wouldn't be happy irrespective of how amazing the resulting photos may be.

I'd have to agree with this. I'd carry some buff pads and some quick polish with me to the shoot.

Make sure the car and the cups are very clean BEFORE you put them on - that's the secret

I wipe them down with a little water and carefully inspect them for any spec of dust.

Make sure the car doesn't have a clear bra either.. It'll leave permanent suction cup marks.
