Thanks...
I was six months old for my first flight (DTW -> LAX -> SBA) but it took me much longer to get my own wings. :D

For us, aviation fanatics, that picture has way more behind it than what any person might imagine. It makes me, and I think any other aviation fanatic, go through a lot of memories and hours at the airport... that picture is GREAT Jay!

Thanks very much Nicolas. I knew it would resonate with many folks here.

very nice, i really like the one with the kid. It makes me think he is waiting on his father to get off the plane or something exciting along those lines.

I'm just gonna sell off all my equipment at this point - Right Click "Save Image As..." is a heck of a lot easier AND cheaper (not to mention tons better photos)... ;)
KUDOS to #4 - reminds me of doing the exact same thing but, I was at O'Hare airport facing out watching the arrivals of those shiny new Eastern Airlines 727's... :D

Very nice Jay. I'm wondering if these were shot on the same day and if so why the differing colors of the sky? I would love to see a blue sky, but none around here. And although not a pilot, or even frequent flier, I can imagine the dreams of breaking through that barrier. Thanks for stirring the memories.

Nice pictures.
For me, when I see airplanes like that (the bigger ones), I think, "dang, that's ten years salary for me."
I used to sit out in the ocean while surfing, look back at the land and see thousands of houses (this was in Southern California), and I'd think, "man, someone (or something) owns all that."

Thanks All Very Much...
The differences in the sky color are (AFAIK) due to two things:
- Elevation and Azimuth.
Out here in AZ, as you shoot closer to the horizon, the haze and junk make the sky less saturated (C182 Image) than when you tilt up. Also, the angle off the sun tends to work just like a Polarizer. The more down sun you shoot as well as the more tilted up you are, the deeper the blue in the sky (King Air and R-22 Images.)
I used to try and fight it in post but it is what it is so I just run with it as is.
As for the last shot... What can I say? That was so me at that age and it still is to a very large degree (Now, I'm just slightly taller...) ;)

Yes, I love the last one. That was me when I was 2 - 3 years old. My dad would take me to baseops at Seymour Johnson AFB, NC after work and we would watch F-4s and B-52Gs do touch and goes. Definetly brings back memories.

Thank You.
I've seen Phantoms do T&Gs but I can't say I've ever seen BUFFs doing them. That must have been a sight to see.
